Sliding Stripes Skirt Kit

Yarn kit for Gwen Bortner’s Sliding Stripes skirt knitting pattern.

Start with five colors of lace-weight yarn. Combine three strands in different color combinations. Knit short rows side to side. Put it all together and you have a magical gradient skirt transitioning in vertical stripes around the body, in a flattering A-line shape. Choose monochromatic colors or go wild. The choice is yours and the possibilities are limitless!

Finished Sizes
Garment is shaped from waist to hem.  All sizes assume 6” distance between the natural waist and full hip. Hip measurements are 10” more than the waist measurements stated below, which assume 0” – 1” of ease. Length from waist is approximately 22”.
Finished Waist Measurement: 24 (28, 32, 36, 40, 44, 48)”

Yarn
Sample was made with three strands held together of Stunning String Studio Lavish Lace in colors:
Wild Berries (A) 1 skein
Funky Fuchsia (B) 2 skeins
Mulled Wine (C) 2 skeins
Dragon Fruit (D) 2 skeins
Plum Pudding (E) 1 skein

For this kit, you will receive:

• 8 skeins in Lavish Lace
• 7 Stitch Markers
• 49″ of 1″ non-roll black elastic
• 2 safety pins

You will need

• US 4 (3.5mm) 24″ (60cm) circular needle
• US 4 (3.5mm) 40″ (100cm) circular needle

Skills Required:

• Familiarity with working in the round
• Provisional Cast-On
• Comfortable working with multiple strands of yarn at the same time
• Familiarity with working short rows
• 3-Needle Bind-off or Grafting (Kitchener Stitch)

“As Shown” Kits often ship much sooner than customized colors.  Most yarn is dyed to order, so please allow up to 2 weeks for your order to ship (although most leave our studio much sooner).

Please note that all monitors portray colors differently, so shade may vary slightly in your finished yarn.  Yardage can also vary slightly as packaging is based on weight, and should be used as approximations.
